The Youngest Mother In History Who Gave Birth At The Age Of 5

Hey guys, today I learned something new so I’m sharing it with y’all.

The world's youngest mother in recorded history, is Lina Medina who gave birth at age of 5. She suffered from precocious puberty, which causes the child's body to change into an adult's body too early (before age 8 for girls and 9 for boys).

Lina Marcela Medina de Jurado born on 23 September 1933 is a Peruvian woman who became the youngest confirmed mother in history.  

In the spring of 1939, parents in a remote Peruvian village noticed that their 5-year-old daughter had an enlarged abdomen. Concerned that the swelling could be a tumor, Tiburello Medina, and Victoria Rosea took their little daughter from their home in Ticrapo to see a doctor in Lima.

To her parents' shock, doctors discovered that their daughter, Lina Medina, was seven months pregnant. On May 14, 1939, Medina gave birth to a healthy baby boy by caesarean section. At 5 years, 7 months and 21 days, she became the youngest mother in the world. Her baby is named Gerardo.

Medina's case surprised pediatricians and drew international attention that she and her family did not want. To this day, Medina has never told authorities who her father was, and she and her family still avoid opportunities for publicity or revealing interviews.

The father's identity still remains a mystery even to this day. What is sure is that Lina was another innocent young victim of s*xual abuse, and what is more horrifying is that this is still happening to this day.

The Doctors at the maternity knew that there was a high chance for the baby to have major difficulties as Lina's young organs were thought at the time to be undeveloped, therefore not able to offer the baby the nutrition required when developing during the 9 months of pregnancy. With a miracle, the baby was born healthy at a perfect weight of 2.7 kilograms and coincidentally on mother's day 14th of May, 1939.

Medina never told doctors or authorities who the father was or how the assault led to her pregnancy. However, given her age, she may not have been aware of it herself.

She is still alive, married to Raúl Jurado; and currently 89 years old. Her son grew up healthy, but died in 1979 at the age of 40 from bone marrow disease.
