10 Things I Stopped Doing That Gave Me Peace And Made Me A Happier Person
Hi, thank you for stopping by. So few days ago, I did some thinking, and reflected on my behavior. I realized that it's been a couple of things I used to do that I don't do anymore. To me, it was growth, and I was truly proud of it, and thought to share because you may find them helpful!
Here are 10 things I’ve stopped doing:
1. Worrying about friendships
I promise you, I no longer care about who stays, nor who leaves! In fact I stay away from people who don’t know how to communicate like adults, friends who get mad at you just because you don’t agree with their point of view. I see people like this as delusional humans who have a fixed mindset instead of an open one!
2. Talking to people just for the sake of it

2. Talking to people just for the sake of it
I do not have the energy for this. If our conversations aren’t meaningful, I don’t see the need for it!
3. Getting mad over people’s bad behavior
I realized that people behave how they want to, and their behavior towards others show how happy, or how unhappy they are with themselves! People who are happy with themselves tend to treat others kindly.4. People-pleasing
I used to want to make everybody happy even while I was hur.ting; but not anymore. If I am not okay with something, I am not okay with it, and I'll tell you that I'm not!Image credit : 123RF |
5. Feeling bad when people don’t reply my messages
I used to feel bad about this, until I started spending less time on my phone, and realized that sometimes I may even forget to reply someone; and I end up apologizing to them. There are some people who don’t or won’t reply your messages until they need something from you. It’s just how they are. It’s not right, but I stopped worrying myself about it!6. Comparing my growth with others’
I stopped this when I realized that everyone’s journey is different! I learn, and get inspired but no comparisons!! "Focus on your journey, and stay on your lane! You'll surely get to your destination. But you are allowed to switch lanes if you've been on the wrong one". I just created this quote now, and I think I love it!7. Wanting things to go my way
I used to be such a perfectionist that I always wanted things to go the way I’ve planned them, or wanted them to go - but it did more harm than good to me because I ended up being frustrated and stressed when I don’t get my way. Now I take a deep breath, ask God to take control, and just let things unfold!
8. Not letting people be
I’ve always been someone who holds on to the good in people! They can do me one hundred bad, and one good, and I’ll hold on to that good, and keep talking to them. But not anymore. In fact I give people so much space now that I don’t care if we don’t ever speak again! But no grudges!9. Thinking I will only be happy when I achieve something
The fact that I understood that we are as humans are insatiable, helped me change this mindset. Happiness is a state of mind; and you can always choose to be happy at any time!
10. Waiting for the right time
There is no right time. I understood that I am just making excuses and procrastinating! If I want to do something, then I should start right away!
Well, there you have it, guys! Thank you for reading. These were the thoughts that went through my mind, and I realized that I'm more confident, peaceful, and happier now! I have also read a couple of self-care books to this effect.
