10 Side Hustles That Can Pay You Up To 1000 Dollars a Month
Hi guys, if you're a freelancer, or self-employed, you will definitely find this article helpful!
As a freelance writer, and content creator, I understand the need for multiple sources of income so here are some of the highly lucrative side hustles I know, and most of them can pay you up to $2000 - $3,500 a month.
1. Blogging
However, most bloggers don’t start their blog for the money, but rather start them because they enjoy thinking and writing about a particular topic. They normally feel a sense of purpose, or that it’s their mission to share their information with the world.
3. Renting your car
8. Rent your house
10. Teach English Online
English is one of the most widely spoken languages all over the world - which makes English teaching a high-demand skill across the world. Websites like VIPKid have the goal of connecting students with English language teachers.

But! Even if you aren’t a freelancer, and you have a full-time job, chances are you'll also want to make some extra cash. I mean a little hustle that brings money, is always appreciated.
As a freelance writer, and content creator, I understand the need for multiple sources of income so here are some of the highly lucrative side hustles I know, and most of them can pay you up to $2000 - $3,500 a month.
1. Blogging
The very first time I made money online was through blogging! If you have a decent amount of traffic, you can make money from your blog using Adsense or Ezoic
This might be tough because you can only make cool cash from this when you have loyal readers, or when you put out great content that attracts people to your blog. However, if you have passion for writing, then you can start a blog, and with time you'll get there. I mean you will never know till you start, right?
2. Audio Transcription
If you are a fast, accurate typist, and you have some basic medical or legal knowledge, you can earn $20+ an hour transcribing short audio files. The most experienced transcribers who are willing to make it a full-time job can earn around $3,000 a month.
3. Renting your car
If you're in Nigeria, then you'll be familiar with Bolt, and Uber! If you're in the states, you'll be familiar with Lyft and Uber. These are mobility service providers that enable drivers to earn money by driving passengers around in their car.
But, if you don’t want to drive strangers, you can still earn good money by renting out your car. It’s just like renting out your house on Airbnb. I read that one car owner reportedly made over $3,500 a month.
Ps, this money won't just land on your thighs. You have to be dedicated!
4. Writing resumes
Do your friends and family often come to you for help with writing their resumes and cover letters? If yes, then you might be able to make money online as a freelance resume writer. One way to start out is by posting your resume writing services on freelancing platforms like Fiverr and Upwork.
You can use my code to get up to $100 when you sign up!
5. Technical Writing
I can't even explain enough how much you can make from this! There are US sites that can literally pay you huge bucks for technical writing! Most technical writers earn in dollars, and if you have passion for writing, then I suggest you take a course on this, create a blog where you can showcase your work, create an account on LinkedIn, and build your connection!
It sounds hard; but it's not. You can take the course online - even on Udemy!
6. Sell stuff you don't use
If you have a ton of old appliances, collectibles, and furniture that you no longer want - as long as they're still in a great condition, you can actually turn them into cash by selling them on eBay and OfferUp. You can also become a broker, selling other people’s unwanted stuff and earning a commission.
In Nigeria, you can start a declutter company, and sell these things off for people - and earn some commission too!
7. Selling stock images
If you love photography like me, and have a knack for taking great pictures, then you might be able to sell your pics on a number of stock photo platforms like Shutterstock, Adobe, and Getty Images. They will pay you royalties each time a user purchases the licensing rights to one of your photos.
I'm a shutterstock contributor - so I'll tell you this for a fact. You just need to take quality images, or videos, and be outgoing. I haven't taken this seriously yet because I'm not outgoing "yet"!
8. Rent your house
This is one of the coolest ways to make money. If you have a nice apartment, you can actually use it for shortlet or AirBnb. People get to pay daily, and in a month, you can make up to $1000 - $2000 whether you're in Nigeria or the states. Just be sure to really have a nice apartment in a safe environment!
I realized this when I started house hunting!
9. Babysitting, pet-sitting, house-sitting, or caregiving
If you have a lot of available free time, then you might be able to fill your time with one or more of these lucrative side hustles. For instance, babysitters, and caregivers can earn an average of $20 an hour, while pet-sitters can earn nearly as much.
Furthermore, you can earn up to $100 a day house-sitting. This works in western countries anyway!
10. Teach English Online
English is one of the most widely spoken languages all over the world - which makes English teaching a high-demand skill across the world. Websites like VIPKid have the goal of connecting students with English language teachers.
You can earn up to $22 an hour, and great thing is that you get to choose your own work hours, and you will also get to interact with people from many cultures, and learn a thing or two about them.
Bonus tip :
Become a secret shopper: Are you a shopaholic? If yes, then you would probably enjoy getting paid to shop as a secret shopper. Secret shoppers reportedly earn up to $23 an hour on sites like Market Force, CXS, and Elite.
