8 Things You Do That Are Killing Your Kidneys
I went through this, and I realized that we may all be guilty of one or two of them; so I decided to share since kidney failure is one of the most popular health problems we face as humans. I hope you find them helpful:
1. YOU DON'T EMPTY YOUR BLADDER WHEN YOU'RE PRESSED
Yes, I do this especially when I'm traveling. My mum actually taught me how to control myself when I'm pressed if I'm in a public place - instead of using a public toilet, so I grew up being used to it. I can go 8-12 hours without easing myself. Unbelievable? Well, it's true. Holding your pee is not harmful to your health but when you make it a habit, that's when it becomes a problem.2. YOU EAT TOO MUCH SALT
I guess men are guilty of this, right? 'cause they're always the ones with the most complaints about how the salt in the food is not enough, lol. Consuming too much salt on a regular is bad for your health. Our kidneys break down 95% of sodium from the food we eat. This means that high salt intake makes the kidneys to work harder just to remove the salt. This can in turn lead to poor kidney functioning and increased water retention.3. YOU DON'T DRINK ENOUGH WATER EVERYDAY
Insufficient water can lead to less blood flow to your kidneys because your kidney, just like other parts of your body need enough water. If there's less blood flow, your blood becomes thick, hindering the ability to remove toxins from your body. Of course you know that passing out urine is a way of removing toxins from your body and you need enough water to achieve this. Another benefit of drinking water a lot is that it'll make you lose weight faster.4. YOU EAT TOO MUCH PROTEIN
Those on diet have to take note of this. Eating too much protein can increase the risk of kidney disease.5. YOU TAKE PAINKILLERS ALWAYS
Aye, this not nice. I know we all need painkillers sometimes. I remember when I made Faux Locs some ago, it was so painful I had to resort to a painkiller. That's okay, but some people actually make it a habit to take it all the time to reduce swelling, fever, and control pain. Sadly, painkillers or analgesics are bad for the kidneys.6. YOU EAT TOO MUCH SUGAR
A lot of people are guilty of this, right? Apart from salt, sugar is also another enemy of your kidney because it can lead to decreased kidney functioning. Avoid sugary drinks to keep your kidney healthy.7. YOU ARE A SMOKER
The Federal Ministry of Health warns that.....................? (you can complete that for me). Smoking is bad for your health, including your organs such as your kidneys. One reason is that smoking can cause hypertension which leads to reduced blood flow in the kidneys.8. YOU'RE AN ALCOHOLIC
If you're an excessive drinker, you'll eventually kill your kidneys, and cause harm to your health.I know some people are going to come up with "something must kill a man". You are right, but would you rather speed your death because ignorance? I just believe moderation is key... xx
